From Pit to Palace Step 2 of 4

You're a quarter of the way through Joseph's story. Keep going.

Keep walking in faith.

And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stript Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colours that was on him; And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, there was no water in it. And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a company of Ishmeelites came from Gilead with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt. And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood? Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content. Genesis 37:23-28 (KJV)

Joseph's brothers stripped his coat, threw him in a dry pit, and then calmly sat down to eat lunch. The contrast is devastating — they ate bread while their brother begged for his life. Then they sold him for twenty pieces of silver. The dream didn't die in the pit, but Joseph had no way of knowing that yet.

Joseph was betrayed by the people closest to him. When you've been hurt by those you trusted, how did you respond? Did you hold onto bitterness or search for purpose?

Is there a betrayal in your past that you haven't fully processed or released?

Think of someone who wronged you. Today, instead of rehearsing the hurt, ask God to show you one thing He may be working through that painful experience.
